Streets of Jamaica...
prepare to be surprised, bemused,
instructed, empowered, and entertained!...

Here is a video with Augusto Boal to get you started-- keep in mind that each link will provide a dozen more links on similar subjects when the video finishes.
FIRST MEETING FOR 2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR
Saturday 14 September 11am
in the Dennis Scott Studio Theatre
Students who have shown through their commitment and energy to be ready to work creatively for the simple sake of doing so-- with no expectation of immediate reward-- are welcome to join in the devising projects, installations, and 'happenings' that will be organized periodically. We will be drawing our inspiration from many sources from Boal's 'invisible' theatre to flash-mob groups such as Improv Everywhere--
There are lots of links below and I'll keep adding more-- some are for ideas, some are for learning tools, some, like the cirque du soliel below for an example of amazing perfection of ensemble rhythms and use of space-- even without the amazing gymnastic tricks-- their performance techniques are flawless.
OUR FIRST PROJECT ... REcycle for ART
so bring in those cereal boxes
we'll be transforming them into works of ART!
to be installed in a public place during a performance!!
I look forward to some of you coming in with your own ideas of what the streets of greater Kingston need from the students and friends of Edna Manley College.
The larger GOAL is to establish a professional alumni theatre collective
who will commit to working collaboratively to create at least ONE fully produced original theatre piece to take to regional and international festivals, win prizes, then come home and tour and play an extended sold-out run at the renovated Ward Theatre-- yes, we can!
If you are seeking information about membership into the collective
OR
you want to be added to the call-out list for flash mobs send your info to
